Help Complete an English School in Lak Sao, Laos

Donation protected
Hello Beautiful People,
25 August, 2023. Nicoló Bertolini

During my trip around Southeast Asia, I discovered a beautiful tiny, little village in the
middle of Laos called Lak Sao. I've been hosted by a family in exchange for teaching
English to local kids at their school.

Here, families deeply care about giving their kids the best education they can. They
want their kids to learn English so they can have better job opportunities. However, learning English in rural Laos is quite expensive and government funding is scarce.

Luckily, an awesome human being called Peter, with the help of his amazing family,
decided that this wasn’t what they wanted for the people of their hometown and
decided to open an English school. This is the only school in Lak Sao that brings native English speakers and foreigners with advanced English speaking skills from other countries.

Below is a picture of the current two buildings used by the school which have nearly reached their full capacity with a current enrollment of over 60 students.

Since 2018, he and his father have been building a school from scratch which will hold 360 students, while teaching English at the same time in a provisional space. All he‘s accomplished so far is just impressive. The unfinished school you see in the pictures below has been built mainly by just Peter and his father with occasional help from students and foreign volunteers.

I was moved by his dedication and passion for being of service, literally giving up
everything else to achieve the dream of a life. His dream is to expand the school so
he can teach more students and provide scholarships to those that can‘t afford it and
eventually, teach formal business courses so Lak Sao can keep on growing.

Everyday life here is very hard. People struggle daily since a big crisis hit the country
about 1 year ago and the financial situation is quite volatile. One of the main problems that came with this is children’s education. We often take things for granted because they are just normal for us, things like food, clothes and education indeed, but the reality is that we have just been very lucky being born in a developed part of the world, and not all of us have had the same luck.

So here I am, humbly, asking for your help to make Peter’s family dream possible
and to give a brighter future to hundreds of kids. Even by donating just 10 euros, you
would drastically change things (an average salary is between 80 and 100 euros per
month) so 10 euros is a lot of money here.

Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to read this story and to especially to those who decided to help!
