Angel Net

A hero goes into battle willingly, with a weapon in their hand, and stands at least a 50/50 % chance. Our NHS nursing staff and Care-home workers have faced the Covid 19 battle with no weapons. With unconditional love and dedication, they have faced off to a very dangerous enemy under extremely testing circumstances. With no weapon. This makes them angels. Nothing less.  More and more of these nurses and care workers have experienced very distressing scenes. And over 14000 in our area have been booked off sick. A very worrying amount due to stress related reasons. It's hell in those wards.  They are showing signs of  severe PTSD. Right now those on site are too busy to realise it. And we hope soon these poor souls cut a break. However, when they do, they will crash. Stress related illnesses is very much a concern. They saved mine and many more lives. Comforted families. Worked stressful long hours under fanatical hygiene conditions.   A clap is admirable. But how about we provide a net for when they do crash? How about we offer them psychological de-stress and well-being sessions? Angel Net is what I'm calling this fund raising. I have arrangements with a fantastic wellbeing specialist that has helped them before and a garden centre in St Albans. Nurses and care-workers are tribal by nature. This group therapy will offer those in our area an opportunity to wind down, feel appreciated, feel loved, and supported with something more tangible than a once a week clap.

I'll be cooking for them when they are on site and I'm looking for at the least, 10 people, to walk ten miles, and raise £1000.00 per walk. This will be open to care workers too but to give you an idea, with that kind of money, we could send the entire ITU team at Watford General on a full 5 day session each. THAT's what is needed.  And when you walk, drop off some hand cream at your local hospital. Ideally something that caters for eczema because the excessive washing has resulted in bleeding cracked hands. The more walkers the wider our capture net.

When I was in ITU, upon my exit, I explained to them that I couldn't wait for the day I could return and thank them. They told me they knew they would never see or hear from me gain, and that was just the way it is. They were happy to see me rolling out. That struck me at how thankless the job was.

Please help me to show them they are not forgotten. And that they are loved and we will be there to catch them. Help me change hearts and minds and drive a national trend. Get your exercise for a good cause and if it's one mile and a tenner, that too is good enough. Every bit helps. Can you imagine how these poor souls will feel if they see you all doing something this positive just for them? I beg you please. Lets give them the best hug they can get.
