Assist in Dionilde's Last Days and Beyond

It is with a heavy heart and weary soul that I am writing this appeal. My mother, Dionilde Povoa, is quickly approaching the end of her earthly life in Hospice care. At 88 she had been doing relatively well in her in-law apartment in my home - until she fell. 10 days ago she fell at home and was brought by rescue to the hospital. She was tested for many things over 5 days and treated for bruised ribs, a broken shoulder, broken facial bones as well as extensive bruising and swelling. A tumor in her brain was discovered and she was given a prognosis of about 12 months. The tumor helped to explain some of her vision loss and occasional cognitive difficulties. After a 5 day hospital stay she was discharged to my home. While she was away I renovated my room to accommodate her care, had a hospital bed and other medical equipment delivered. That well-thought-out, hopeful arrangement lasted 24 hours. It was evident that she needed more, intensive care. Her pain was unmanageable and other complications arose. Back to the hospital she went and received a revised diagnosis for the cancer - 12 months suddenly became "hours to days." She went directly to Hospice and there she languishes.

Between my disbelief, grief and confusion I am attempting to plan the next step. Unfortunately, Mom has no life insurance and I certainly don't have the resources for her services and final bills. Her apartment remains unrented and in need of a clean out and renovation. The expenses involved with that process is much more than I can absorb but it is necessary so it can be re-rented as that revenue is crucial to maintaining the home I share with my son.

I would be so grateful for any hope you feel called to give. There are so many factors overwhelming me right now. I want to do the best I can for my Mom right now and am alone to do so, as well as to handle the reality of her loss and pending grief. God bless you for any assistance you can give.
