Assist Karen Myles in Her Time of Need

Hi, my name is Karen Myles, and for the past 40 years, I called Altadena home. My house was all I had—it was my safe haven, my comfort, and the place I planned to stay in for the rest of my life. I never thought I’d have to leave, never planned on renting or moving—until the day I died.

But now, it’s all gone.

The fire took everything—my home, my belongings, my sense of security. I lost the one thing I worked my whole life for, and now, I have nowhere to go.

I’ve been retired for a few years and live on a fixed income, so starting over feels impossible. For the past several weeks, I’ve been staying at the Pasadena Convention Center shelter, but the conditions are not good for my health. I have a bad back and leg, and walking is difficult for me, which makes shelter life even harder.

I don’t have friends or family I can depend on. Times are really rough, and I need all the help I can get.

I just want to find a safe, stable place to live—somewhere I can heal and figure out my next steps. Any support you can give will help me get essentials, medical care, and a place to stay as I try to move forward.
