Ayudemos a mi Mama a seguir luchando

Mi mamá Rahiza Aguilar, 71 años, hace meses se le paralizó el cuerpo impidiendo su movilidad para caminar y dificultando el habla, lenguaje y comprensión para comunicarse. La trasladaron de emergencia para realizarle una tomografía de cráneo la cual mostró múltiples tumores en el cerebro con un edema perilesional digitiforme a nivel para sagital frontal izquierdo con efecto de masa compresivo ventricular y desplazamiento de la línea media.

 

En emergencias le colocaron una vía central yugular para suministrarle medicamentos y ayudarla a desinflamar el edema extremo que contenía su cerebro. Posteriormente le realizaron una resonancia magnética de cráneo con contraste la cual se confirmó la presencia de 2 Tumores. El más grande de 4.2 cms, cc 3.9 cms x 2.8 cms en diámetro transverso, irregularmente ovalado a nivel para sagital frontal izquierdo con realce periférico y el segundo de menor tamaño con características similares de 1.3 x 1.2 cms parietal posterior ipsi lateral.

 

Fue evaluada con urgencia por el mejor neurocirujano del Centro Médico Guerra Méndez en Valencia, Venezuela y le indico de inmediato sesiones de radioterapia en el cerebro para disminuir el edema y el tamaño de ambos tumores. Adicional, se realizó una tomografía del tórax, pelvis y una mamografia para evaluar posibles causas. Posteriormente se realizó un CT PET FDG scan de cuerpo completo donde el oncólogo cirujano confirmó realizarle una intervención quirúrgica para extraerle la tiroides por completo. Continuó tratamiento post operatorio por más de un mes. Fue desmejorando rápidamente de nuevo y dejó de comunicarse bien y caminar adicional a una tos neurologica intensa. Confirmó su Neurocirujano después de una resonancia magnética con contraste, que el tumor mayor creció agresivamente de tamaño y el edema cerebral estaba comprimiendo demasiado el cerebro. El 19 de Junio ingreso de emergencia a la clínica para prepararla para una cirujia de cranetomia de emergencia + resección de LOE cerebral intra axial frontal izquierdo. Estuvo en terapia intensiva por 3 días hasta salir de peligro y luego hospitalización por 5 días. Los resultados de la biopsia después de su operación confirmaron que el tumor primario se encuentra en su cerebro y es MALIGNO. La evaluación inmunohistoquimico indicó que el nombre del tumor primario es Glioblastoma Multiforme y el pronóstico es bastante complicado. Comenzó con un tratamiento de quimioterapia y radioterapia simultaneo de 5 semanas. Se encuentra hospitalizada con plaquetas, glóbulos blancos y rojos muy bajos y la mantienen aislada. Está presentando continuas convulsiones y su salud está delicada.

 

Les ruego que me ayuden a SALVAR a mi mama. Ella lo es todo para mi. Se me rompe el corazón solo de pensar que la puedo perder. No me imagino mi vida sin ella. Ella es una mujer llena de amor, dulce, comprensiva, cariñosa, tierna, valiente, luchadora, ingenua, inofensiva, inteligente, integra, correcta, caritativa, alegre, ocurrente, siempre dispuesta a regalar sonrisas, una guerrera de vida, excelente persona y ser humano. Dedicada 100% a su familia y hogar con 3 hijos. Tiene 49 años de matrimonio y también es una abuela maravillosa de 2 nietos.

 

Siempre me ha dado mucho amor y el mas puro que solo una madre da. Es la responsable de la mujer que hoy en día soy, de mi educación y del éxito de mi carrera tenística y profesional. Como olvidar esos días donde iba a mi colegio durante años en la primaria y secundaria a tomar todos mis apuntes de cada materia junto a mis compañeros de clase mientras yo estaba de gira fuera del país cumpliendo con mis compromisos como atleta venezolana. Por ella logre mi título de bachiller siendo la mejor estudiante de mi promoción. Siempre se cercioro que nunca me faltará nada en mis entrenamientos, torneos y me acompañó en cada momento. Por su esfuerzo logre ser la raqueta #1 de tenis en mi país. Por su dedicación obtuve una beca universitaria en los Estados Unidos y un trabajo. Hoy en día cuento con un futuro fuera de Venezuela gracias a su determinación para apoyarme en lograr mis sueños. Sin duda tengo la mejor mamá.

 

En este momento no puedo trasladarme a mi país natal debido a mi actual estatus migratorio. No podré batallar sola con la cantidad de gastos dolarizados que implica su recuperación en Venezuela y no cuenta con un seguro médico. Subsequently, she had a MRI of the skull with contrast which reconfirmed the presence of 2 TUMORS. The largest of 4.2 cms, cc 3.9 cms, 2.8 cms in transverse diameter, irregularly oval at the level for left frontal sagittal with peripheral enhancement and the second smallest with similar characteristics of 1.3 x 1.2 cms posterior parietal lateral ipsi.

 

She was urgently evaluated by the best neurosurgeon at the Guerra Méndez Medical Center in Valencia, Venezuela and he indicated radiotherapy sessions to the brain immediately to reduce the edema and the size of both tumors. Additionally, a tomography of the thorax, pelvis and a mammography were performed to evaluate possible causes. Subsequently, a full body FDG PET CT scan was performed where the surgical oncologist confirmed that a surgical intervention would be performed to completely remove the thyroid. She continued oral and postoperative treatment for more than a month. Unfortunately, she was rapidly deteriorating and stopped talking much and walking again in addition to an intense neurological cough. Her Neurosurgeon confirmed after an MRI with contrast, that the larger tumor grew aggressively in size and the cerebral edema was compressing the brain too much. On June 19, emergency admission to the clinic to prepare her for an emergency craniotomy surgery + left frontal intra-axial cerebral LOE resection. She was in intensive care for 3 days until she was out of danger and then hospitalized for 5 days. The results of the biopsy after her surgery confirmed that the primary tumor is in her brain and is MALIGNANT. Immunohistochemical evaluation showed that the name of the primary tumor is Glioblastoma Multiforme and the prognosis is quite complicated. She will start with a simultaneous chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment for 5 weeks. She has been isolated at the hospital with a very low platelets and white blood cell counts.

Please help me SAVE my mom. She is everything to me. It breaks my heart just thinking that I can lose her. I can't imagine my life without her. She is a woman full of love and caring, sweet, understanding, affectionate, tender, brave, fighter, naive, harmless, intelligent, upright, correct, charitable, cheerful, witty, always ready to give smiles, a warrior of life, an excellent person and human being. Dedicated 100% to her family and home of 3 children Wilfredo Pereira, Luis Pereira and Lisette Pereira. She has been married to my father Wilfredo Pereira for 49 years and is also a wonderful grandmother of Santiago Pereira and Annalucia Pereira.

 

She has always given me a lot of love and the purest that only a mother gives. She is responsible for the woman I am today, for my education and for the success in sports and professional career. How to forget those days where she went to my school for years in elementary and high school to take all my notes on each class with my classmates while I was traveling outside the country fulfilling my commitments as a Venezuelan tennis athlete. Because of her, I achieved my bachelor's degree by being the best student in my class graduation. She always made sure that I will never miss anything in my trainings, tournaments and she accompanied me at every moment. Due to her efforts I got to be the #1 tennis player in my country. For her dedication I obtained a university scholarship in the United States of America and a job. Today I have a future outside Venezuela thanks to her determination to support me in achieving my dreams. I definitely have the best mom.

 

At the moment I cannot travel to my native country due to my current immigration status. I will not be able to struggle alone with the amount of dollarized expenses involved in her recovery in Venezuela and she does not have health insurance.
