Supporting Carlee

Carlee was diagnosed with Classical Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May 2021. She completed 12 rounds of chemotherapy and was cancer-free in November 2021. Carlee then moved from Texas to Chicago excited to start a whole new career and life. She was able to work full-time again, and was enjoying her new life in Chicago very much.

In March of this year, Carlee had a routine follow-up Pet scan that came back with some areas of concern. She was scheduled, and had surgical excision to a remove of a lymph node in her neck. This past week, after her most recent biopsy surgery, we have discovered that her cancer is back.

For this time around, treatment will look different. Carlee will undergo a different type of chemotherapy, immunotheray, and a radiation regime in the hospital. Once the rounds of conditioning treatments are done, she will have another PET scan to determine if the chemotherapy was successful. Once in remission, Carlee will then have a stem cell transplant to jumpstart her recovery. We don’t know much about the transplant yet, but we are set to meet with the oncologist this coming week to figure out the details and how long the process will take.

There are other treatment options if this particular path is unsuccessful, but we are optimistic this one will put this cancer behind us once and for all.

As many of you know, Carlee has been working full-time as a recruiter at Aston Carter. At this point, Carlee hopes to continue to work as long, and as much as she can between treatments. During her transplant and recovery time we do not know how long Carlee will be off work during this part of her treatment process when considering how fragile her immune system will be in the near term.
