Baby Dallas - born at 26 weeks 3 days

Good morning everyone. It is with great sadness that I am even doing this. My grandson Dallas was born on 6/5/2024 @ 4:12pm. He was born @ 26 weeks and 3 days due to my daughter’s pregnancy complications with preeclampsia. Dallas is considered a micro-preemie. Dallas was immediately intubated and put in the NICU at Mountain View hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dr. Harvey’s team has been amazing to say the least. Dallas has had 2 blood transfusions, has been in and out of being intubated, on and off of the oscillator machine.
Dallas took a turn for the worst yesterday 6/12/24. One lung has PIE (Pulmonary Interstitial Emphysema) and the other lung has what is being described as “white cotton” encasing it. The hospital tried a treatment with nitric oxide, that has only been approved for preemies at 35 weeks or older to see if they could help his lungs. Although he responded quickly, overnight he reversed his improvements. Mountain View hospital has tried all they can and at the time of writing this is being transferred to Primary Children’s hospital in Salt Lake City either by plane or helicopter. They have a machine called a high-frequency jet ventilation chamber for preemies with underdeveloped lungs and have more of the specialties that deal with micro-preemies.
