Christy's Cancer Battle Fund

Donation protected
30 years ago at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, 12 year old Christy Farley received the gift of life, a heart transplant. Christy is now 43 years old and a single mother to an 8 year old daughter. As a heart transplant patient, life has had its challenges. Yet, Christy forged on by getting her R.N, BSN and by working as a registered nurse manager until her health began failing again.

This past year she faced two surgeries to remove melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer. She has just learned that the cancer is now at stage 4 and has spread to her brain, and other parts of her body. Christy is devastated, but hopeful. The life-saving immunosuppressant medications which she takes so her body doesn't reject her heart, are causing the melanoma to grow at a rapid rate. Christy will always be battling melanoma. She also has an 85% blockage of a main vessel in her heart that requires a cardiac stent to unblock it, but the blockage cannot be fixed until the cancer is under control. Her cardiac team along with the oncologist will be meeting to try to come up with a treatment to battle the melanoma, while at the same time protecting her heart from being rejected. It's a very complicated situation!

All donated funds will be used for Christy's upcoming surgeries, cancer treatments, diagnostic procedures, traveling expenses to and from Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, and any medical bills not covered by her health insurance. Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. Christy and her family thank you!
