Bedridden after Covid vaccine.

Please spare a few minutes to read the horrific story of what has happened to a dear friend who desperately needs our help.

Anita is bedbound and entirely dependent upon her family for her care needs. Anita cannot walk, get clean or go to the bathroom and has been left to sleep on a bed in her kitchen for over a year, cut off from the rest of her family and in constant pain.

Anita’s nightmare began in January 2021 when she was given one of the earliest doses of the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine. Hit with a severe reaction within minutes of the injection Anita couldn’t breathe and was gaslit by the NHS who denied the vaccine could be responsible and refused to treat her.

Over the next 18 months Anita’s condition deteriorated week after week until she collapsed in 2022 and was finally admitted to hospital for 4 weeks during which she nearly died twice. First after being sedated with midazolam and later after being exposed to an allergen that sent her into anaphylactic shock.

Anita was initially told that she had lesions on her brain which might indicate multiple sclerosis and has since been diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy, POTs, uncontrollable tremors in her arms and legs, facial numbness, brain fog, MCAS, dysautonomia, dyspnoea, sleep dysregulation, PESE, tinnitus, blurred vision, ME/CFS and intercranial hypertension.

The chest pain that had crippled Anita for 18 months was finally diagnosed as pericarditis, now officially accepted as a vaccine risk, but when she was treated with colchicine she went into anaphylaxis and the treatment was stopped leaving her in even more pain. A later V/Q scan showed lung perfusion defects indicating that micro clots are preventing normal blood and oxygen circulation but she was discharged home unable to walk and without a care plan in place.

Before Anita became ill she was an active mum of two school age children who she had promised to take around the world one day. Anita is a former postwoman and professional dancer who was full of life and hoped to teach her daughter to dance too but now she can’t even lift her right leg on her own. Her hopes and dreams for her children are broken.

Continually gaslit, continually dismissed, continually neglected by the government and local authorities who are happy to leave her confined to a bed 24/7 with no quality of life. In the past months they’ve denied Anita a wheelchair, a ramp, door thresholds, any bathing or washing facilities, a commode or a bed that lets her reach the floor, all while playing the blame game.

The GP blames the occupational therapist, the occupational therapist blames the wheelchair service, the wheelchair service blames the occupational therapist and so on, round and round with no-one taking responsibility.

Unable to use the local hospital services where the staff nearly killed her Anita urgently needs funding to see private consultants, access treatments, buy medications, and install equipment that may help her to regain some semblance of her old life.

Our initial goals are to raise the funds for private neurology and cardiology consultations and ambulance transportation so Anita can go for MRI scans, EMG/Nerve conduction studies, a nerve biopsy, a lumbar puncture, and other specialized tests to try and confirm her long-term prognosis and any treatment options.

With her neuropathic tremors and weakness spreading throughout her body it is unlikely that Anita is ever going to walk unaided so she will need regular physiotherapy sessions at home and a range of equipment, reclining chairs, grab rails or possibly a hoist to allow her to sit and mix with her family instead of being isolated in the kitchen.

Anita’s real dream however is to be able to sit with her children in the fresh air and sunshine of her own garden, something she hasn’t been able to do for almost 2 years now. In order to achieve this we need to adapt the front and rear entrances for wheelchair access as they are both unsuitable for her with high steps and uneven ground making them too hazardous.

We know that times are hard but if you feel that you can support Anita in anyway then every donation will be used to improve Anita’s quality of life, allow her to be part of her family again and free her from the hell of her kitchen prison.

Thank you.
