Beds For Refugee Families
Donation protected
Hi, I'm John Laing. I'm a senior at Bexley High School and a scout in Troop 166. For my Eagle Scout project, I'm partnering with Bed Brigade, a local non-profit that builds beds for families in need, and US Together, a resettlement agency in Columbus that helps support refugee and immigrant families. I'm asking Bexley High School students and the community to join with me to provide forty full-furnished beds to refugee families being resettled in Columbus.
Bed frames, mattresses, and bedding are expensive, so the project will help newly arrived families set up their households and smooth the resettlement process.
We need help in two ways. This GoFundMe is a fundraiser for donors who want to support the project financially. The other part will be a donation drive to collect the actual materials--sheets, comforters, pillows, stuffed animals, etc.
The date to build bed frames is 8:30-11 am on Nov. 12. I'll have a signup for volunteers. Twenty volunteers would be able to make approximately forty beds. After the bed frames are built and outfitted, they will be delivered to immigrant and refugee families.
