About Visionary Collective
Visionary Collective is a dynamic community of Black diasporic storytellers dedicated to nurturing creativity and fostering meaningful connections. We empower Black storytellers to transform their dreams into visions through collaborative opportunities for growth, creation, and community building. Founded as a supportive haven for emerging Black creatives, our collective provides a space where storytellers can develop their artistic voices and refine their craft alongside fellow artists. Through our commitment to authentic storytelling and shared experiences, we're building a vibrant network where Black narratives thrive and creative identities flourish.
Example Programming
- Envision Salon Series is community engagement programming developed to create joyous and liberating spaces for Black artists to expand their community, share ideas, and plant seeds of collaboration. Mirroring the salons hosted by our foremothers of the Harlem Renaissance, Visionary Collective aims to establish a safe space for Black creators that will usher in the next cultural renaissance.
- Visionary Reading Series is artistic programming curated to provide early-career directors and actors with experience in developmental process by producing director-driven 29-Hour Workshops culminating in an reading and facilitated discussion. The Reading series aims to be an incubator for early career directors and actors to gain practical and creative experience collaborating in developmental sessions and intimately engaging with fresh perspectives in Black theatre.
- VC Play Reading Series is artistic programming designed to familiarize artists with the rich diversity of Black theatrical works through collective exploration of plays spanning the full spectrum of the Black dramatic canon. From treasured classics to groundbreaking contemporary voices, this series creates a dedicated space for artists to engage directly with scripts ranging in form and style. By reading and discussing these works together, VC Play Reading Series deepens participants' knowledge of Black theatrical heritage while fostering a greater appreciation for the breadth, depth, and continuous evolution of Black storytelling on stage.
