Byron Smith Scholarship Memorial Fund

Kind, humble artist, loving friend, son, brother, uncle. Byron Smith’s passing is a great loss to our community. 43 years dedicated to the University of Missouri where, in addition to his work, he was an ambassador helping countless professors, students and staff, enhancing their university experience.

Byron never focused on his own hardships in life, instead he gave back; mentoring young and old in art and music, he facilitated drawing and painting studio sessions for decades, educated all who asked in the history of our region, enhancing both our state and Boone County historical societies, donated his work to benevolent causes, and was a friend to all.

From humble beginnings, he became a renowned artist, in addition, his inquisitive nature led to him becoming a self taught historian, musician and local naturalist.

Our entire community was made better by his determined and dedicated soul, a rare, humble and beautiful human.

RIP Byron.

These funds will be used to establish a memorial scholarship fund and assist the family of Byron Smith in establishing the scholarship.
