Unfortunately on the 30th at 12am Cameron’s hand was blown off by a mortar shell. I know there’s probably a lot of questions, where were we, how’d it happen, can he keep his fingers.
Cameron and I (Teresa) were at his house shooting off fire works the third one to go off fell and didn’t completely go off so Cameron went to grab it and it exploded in his hand. His hand was basically hamburger he ran inside to me holding what was left of his hand. I rushed him to the emergency room where we were later life lifted to salt lake.
It is unsure whether or not he’s going to be able to keep his ring and pinky fingers. Cameron does not have health insurance and is not going to be able to work for a while if not at all do to him being in construction. Anything helps so he can get the care he needs. As well as family members unfortunately the hospital is not letting anyone stay with him so family has to stay in hotels down here in order to see him. Costs for food and travel are going to be pricey for all involved.
Update: Cameron is able to keep his two fingers and is going to try to get a prosthetic for the remainder of his hand. Prosthetics can cost anywhere from 10k-50k. He’s also going to need physical therapy to strengthen his hand and arm as well as learn how to use the prosthetic. Anything helps thank you.
