Caring for Our Caregiver: Supporting Patty Abare

On behalf of Patty Abare (whom many of us lovingly know as “Miss Patty”), John Martin, her loved ones, and friends- we are seeking help/support during John’s recovery from emergency brain surgery.
On Friday, January 27th, John began having seizures. Patty called an ambulance immediately and he was rushed to Hartford Hospital where he went into emergency surgery which lasted multiple hours.
John will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future, however, the hospital staff was able to remove the breathing tube Tuesday, January 31st, and he is blinking when Patty talks to him which is a great sign!
Miss Patty has been John’s partner for 26 years, supporting John through joys, challenges, losses, and medical needs. They have a long and difficult road ahead. We ask for support on her behalf to minimize as many obstacles in the unforeseeable future.
Miss Patty has dedicated her career and personal life to caring for children. She has been with LEGO Creative Childcare Center for 18 years and has supported hundreds of families throughout her career.
We have been fortunate to have Miss Patty in our lives for six years helping to take care of our two children. She is consistent, loving, gentle, determined, and loyal. She cares so much for our family and the families that she works with.
We would like to collect a fund for Patty to allow her to focus on supporting John while he recovers and not on any financial burdens. Let us join together and love her through this. This has already taken a huge toll on her and her family. We have set a monetary goal to help relieve rent and bills for three months and allow her to focus on John. We ask for any financial support to help her during this unfamiliar time.
