Please help us in assisting Catherine and the Dodd family get back on their feet!
Catherine, our sister-in-law, went in for two back surgeries in the month of August and wound up being admitted to the hospital on Sept. 9th with complications. Unfortunately, Cat contracted meningitis and MRSA in the brain and spine subsequent to the procedures. Cat is now in critical condition, on a ventilator with a pump in her skull to relieve the pressure on her brain, as well as a pump in her spine attempting to clean out the infection. Her situation is day to day at best with very little measurable improvement thus far.
Heath, her devoted husband, is with her at the hospital overseeing her care daily and is in need of a lot of help while Cat works hard to heal. Their children Harlan, 7 and Zoe, 5 are in need of after school care, tutoring, and emotional support while their dad supports their mother. Heath hasn't been able to work during this time as he spends all of his time at Catherine's side, ensuring she gets proper care. As one can imagine, this is all completely unexpected and therefore an especially traumatic, exhausting and devastating situation. This is a desperate plea for help because we know, your assistance will make a difference!
With COVID, after school care is difficult to come by and the family's options are limited. The kids have been juggled between aunts, uncles and grandparents homes in the short term but, a long term solution is needed, as it now appears Cat's recovery will take months. The children need more predictable lives during this time of uncertainty with their mothers health. Harlan and Zoe need consistency, routine, emotional support and a lot of TLC during this frightening time.
Because the road to recovery from a brain injury can take many forms and might include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, we are hoping you'll find it in your hearts and wallets to help them out during this very stressful, traumatic and demanding time. The money raised will be used for maintaining the family home, taking care of the children, food and medical bills. Anything you can spare will help!
Catherine will have a long road back to being 100% and we want to help ensure the road is as smooth as can be for her and her family.
