Help Me Get New Legs!

Donation protected
For those of you who see me regularly, you know I occasionally use a wheelchair and walk with leg braces. After talking with my doctors, we feel that they best course of action is to amputate both legs below the knees. This comes as the result of a spinal cord injury I suffered while serving as a military police o

fficer in the Army 8 years ago. I've stayed as active as possible but often injure my feet without knowing it because I can't feel them. I am at risk of frequent injury and possible infections and as such I may have a much greater quality of life if I have the life-alterin

g surgery to remove the feet and learn to walk on prosthetics. The doctors are confident that I can be walking in 4-6 weeks and RUNNING in six months if all goes well with the healing.

The actual surgery and legs are covered by the military but I need help with everything else. I will be rehabbing at Walter Reed for about 6wks depending on healing and need to cover the hotel as an outpatient ($81/night = $2500) and airfare to and from DC for myself and my mandatory non-medical aids (about a week each). I also need some adaptations to my home and vehicle and will need to cover take-out meals at a hotel for the 6wks. Every little bit helps but please spread the word.
