ATTITUDE & EFFORT
BYBSL Capital Campaign In Honor of Coach Tippy Watts
Greg “Tippy” Watts was an outgoing, loving family man. You didn’t need to talk to him for long to learn that he loved nothing more than his boys, baseball & coaching. Because Blythewood Youth Baseball/Softball League (BYBYL) embodies these passions we believe there is no better way to honor Tippy’s legacy than to take BYBSL to the next level, while leaving lasting imprints of his honor. Please join the Watts family and the BYBSL Board in honoring the life and legacy of Coach Tippy Watts by donating to the BYBSL Capital Campaign.
Tax deductible donations can be made here on this GoFundMe page or by sending a check made payable to BYBSL (subject Tippy Watts) to P.O. Box 384, Blythewood, SC 29016. We invite you to read on for more information about how the proceeds from this capital campaign will honor Tippy and help the BYBSL organization improve.
As a first step to honoring his memory, Tippy’s wife & sons (Susie, Camden, Ryan & Bennett) sponsored field 3, now known as Watts Field. On any given day over the last 8 years, you could find Tippy there coaching and mentoring countless young athletes. Additionally, the BYBSL Board instituted the Tippy Watts Attitude & Effort Award. He consistently preached this motto to his players explaining that these were the two things they could control. This award will be presented to one player from each team in the league, as voted on by coaches and players, who exhibits the best Attitude & Effort in all facets of the game.
BYBSL has grown, yet our older facilities and equipment have not progressed with us, creating a need for a $50,000 capital campaign to provide a better place for our youth to play and learn the game. By raising these funds in Tippy’s honor, the league will be able to replace field equipment, purchase 3 new scoreboards, repair and upgrade batting cages, replace temporary fencing, purchase tarps, replace electronic equipment and much more.
Although Tippy left this world, evidence of his devotion to sports and coaching endures in the lives of the young athletes he coached. On behalf of the Watts Family, Kevin Allen/BYBSL President, the BYBSL Board & the BYBSL families we thank you for your support in honoring the life and legacy of Coach Tippy Watts and the young athletes who were so important to him.
