Despite the most rigorous attempts to plan, there are times when the world flips upside down and plans must be set aside. This is particularly true in times of disasters and when the Community and people are in dire need of help and support. It is these life changing events that enable us to take what we have learned in our personal and business lives to help people and institutions that are in desperate need of help.
During the past 14 years of business, TechPoint1 has developed deep roots in this Community and cares deeply about our fellow residents. In the current disaster situation, we have been brainstorming how a technology solutions company could help during a viral pandemic. It appeared almost impossible - but our clients have been asking us to do the impossible since our inception!
Then the brainstorming worked...being married to a nurse, Ryan Vath, TechPoint1’s owner, was deeply concerned regarding the lack of safety equipment available to the brave health care professionals caring for patients. TechPoint1’s ability to provide unique services and equipment, beyond technology and audio/video solutions and integration is due, in part, to our ability to design, engineer and fabricate unique parts and equipment. At our Plainfield, Il offices, we maintain a 3D printer farm to design and fabricate parts and products. As a result, we are deeply involved in the worldwide 3D printing community. When we recently saw a design for an airborne isolation Protective Face Shields, we immediately understood how we could help support the fight against Coronavirus and protect our health care professionals and patients. We designed and submitted a detailed written report and fabrication process of the Face Shields to local health care professionals and providers for their review and approval. After making recommended modifications to facilitate easier cleaning of the Face Shields, we received word that AMITA Mercy Medical Center and Two Rivers Dental had both approved the design and use of the Face Shields for their frontline care givers and staff.
Upon receiving the approval, we halted all other work and commenced the manufacturing of the Face Shields. TechPoint1 originally sourced all the raw materials we required to fabricate and assemble the Face Shields, including the FDA approved clear PETG plastic face shield. We used our Company CNC router to cut the face shields enabling us to retain the entire design, fabrication and packing process “in house,” thereby reducing production costs. We have already been able to procure, print, fabricate, assemble and deliver dozens of Face Shield for AMITA Mercy Medical Center’s ER & ICU health care professionals and Two Rivers Dental. We are committed to deliver a total of 1,000 Face Shield for AMITA Mercy Medical Center, Two Rivers Dental and other health care professionals and providers. With your generous donations, we are confident we can meet or exceed our goal.
