CTHF Heroes with Disabilities Tree
Donation protected
Hello to all, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
My name is Tiffany Miner, and I am attempting to raise $1,000 dollars to sponsor a "Heroes with Disabilities" Tree for the annual Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation (CTHF) Festival of Trees fundraiser, which will take place December 5-7, 2014 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The Festival of Trees is a FREE, accessible, and beautiful community event, bringing together children and families of all ages and abilities to enjoy the holiday season. ALL proceeds raised from the trees on display as well as other festive items help to further the mission of CTHF.
Since 1963, CTHF has provided monetary and volunteer support to the University of New Mexico Carrie Tingley Hospital, New Mexico’s only pediatric rehabilitative hospital. Each year, UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital serves thousands of children with various illnesses and disabling conditions. Their mission is to assist families with their medical and daily living needs and also offer long-term assistance, education, and programs through funding for research scholarships and quality of life programs.
Each ornament featured on the "Heroes with Disabilities" tree will be handcrafted and will represent a person with a disability who is well-known for his or her life contributions to society. Examples of some well-known or "Famous" people with disabilities can be found by visiting this link: Well-Known/Famous People with Disabilities
As a person with a disability, who grew up in hospital settings, I am greatly passionate about this cause! I want not only to show support for the vital work of CTHF, but also to empower children with disabilities to feel good about themselves. I believe that this is, in part, made possible when children see others who are like them doing great things. My hope is that a "Heroes with Disabilities" tree would help children to percieve themselves in a positive light and embrace their differences, unique gifts, as well as their own ability to impact their communities and the wider society.
I know I personally would have loved to see something like this tree when I was young and struggling with feelings of difference and isolation. Please help me on my mission to create a "Heroes with Disabilities" tree, and bring a smile to a child's face. Any contribution is greatly appreciated; there is no donation too small.
THANK YOU, and many blessings to you and yours this holiday season and always. :)
