Supporting the Dabney family through Cancer
Donation protected
edit: Due to new information and a rapid decline in Heathers’ health the purpose of this go fund me is changing. Unfortunately, trying the naturopathic route isn’t an option at this time. Rather, the money already donated and future donated money will go to the Dabney family to help with finances, this way Jared can be home instead of work. Thank you so much for understanding and please keep praying and sharing as it’s really needed.
Hi my name is Nicole and I’m raising funds for my best friend, Heather Dabney. She’s a Missouri native who currently lives in Kansas with her husband, Jared and two beautiful boys Drew & Jonah.
She has been through surgeries and rounds of chemo and radiation. After a recent scan where the cancer has spread, she has decided to try a naturopathic route which is not covered by insurance at all. Here’s a more detailed history of what’s been happening from Heather…
“In June 2021, I began having symptoms that were strange, and escalated pretty quickly. Headaches making me vomit, static in my peripherals, throbbing—but laying down made it worse. I eventually got into a primary care doctor who ordered a cat scan the next day. Next day rolls around and I get a phone call from my doctor telling me I needed to go to the ER immediately, they believe I had a tumor but the cat scan didn’t give enough insight. I went to the ER, was told I had a mass in the middle of my brain and would need surgery.
I had my first surgery around 4 days later. Around one month after, I had my second surgery— a craniotomy. During this surgery, they did a biopsy that was inconclusive. It had signs of cancer, but also had evidence of a benign tumor. They chose to remove most of the tumor at this time. I did chemo and radiation in the meantime which seemed to do what it needed to.
In May of 2023, I found myself back in the ER with hydrocephalus, again. This time it seemed as though the make way shunt they formed in the first surgery had grown scar tissue—so they had to put in a real shunt. Meanwhile, a scan was completed that showed growth. I stopped chemo at this point and waited to see if it was growing, which it had not… until now.
Now it’s grown slightly but also spread to my abdomen, and a couple spots on my spine, my hope is to get into a naturopathic doctor to see what option they feel to be best moving forward so I can be cancer free!!!! All funds received will go towards any and all treatment. Thank you for reading this far, and going out of your way to support my family!”
The treatment plan is case by case and can be anywhere between 10-20k. I know it can be hard to give during these times and if that’s not possible please please just share this post because that can be just as helpful. Thank you so much!
