Dave Dunlap’s Relapse Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma
"Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly” — Anonymous
To our dearest friends and family, this is a heartfelt, but challenging update to share. In advance, thank you for your support and prayers as we begin to navigate the next several months.
For those who may not know, Dave was recently diagnosed with Relapsed Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and will begin treatment this week. He has undergone extensive testing to make sure his body can handle an intense, chemo drug that is administered via IV with a 12-week duration. We were given 3 options for treatment and decided to choose this one because it was the shortest treatment time. However, there are a few downsides to the time frame benefits that we are preparing ourselves for. Knowing that this form of chemotherapy will take a toll on Dave’s immune system and given the current circumstances with Covid19, his Doctor has strongly encouraged us to quarantine ourselves as much as possible. (*Weeks 3-8 are the most critical*).
As difficult as it is to isolate ourselves from personal contact, we know it’s temporary and it’s for the best so Dave is not exposed to anything that would have been preventable.
—> It is in circumstances such as this that we truly see the goodness in people whom surround us. We are so thankful for the messages, texts, notes, goodies and gifts. Even if a thank you note doesn’t make it to your door, please know that each gesture, each thoughtful message and each prayer has blessed us in so many ways. Thank you!
—> It is also in circumstances such as these that stretch us in accepting help. So many have asked how they can tangibly help support us. (WOW! THANK YOU!). We do have a drop box outside our door for anything you’d like to drop off. There is also a MealTrain ( https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/d3e7kv/updates/ )
page available for those who want to support us.
From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you for the thoughts, prayers and most of all, your love and friendship towards our family.
