Di’jon and Deontae Liver Transplant Fund

Di’jon was diagnosed at 16 yrs old with a rare liver disease called PSC. It is a liver disease that causes cirrhosis of the liver and bile ducts. This disease has no cure except liver transplantation. This July after 9 years of ups and downs, Di’jon rapidly started to decline. She went on the uno’s organ transplant list, but with the points system they have, still went without ever even getting close to transplant. As she started to decline more in Sept my family and I started to discuss living-donor transplant. This was a very stressful process and out of 4 of us that applied only my son was picked to be a donor after 3 months of testing, evaluations, etc. On Wed. Jan 15th, my son had 40% of his liver removed. He was in surgery 8 hours. My daughter went in a few hours after him and was in surgery 10 hours. They have both been progressing, although both had major setbacks while in ICU originally. Both are on the regular transplant floor and my son should be able to transition home soon. My daughter is still here recovering. It’s slow but going in the right direction.
My son is only 23, and he was so selfless to step up and do this gifting of liver to his sister, Di’jon who is only 25 yrs old. He had to stop working and will be out of work for 2-3 months.
Dijon is such a great person and see’s the best in everything and everyone. She has an awesome and beautiful 2 year old baby girl, named Zoey. That was a miracle in itself. This disease has given her a beating, but she has fought it and remained positive and we’re finally here. Di’jon had to stop working completely in Oct as she was so weak she couldn’t even keep her eyes open and could barely walk. She was in and out the hospital often. This has been a Blessing, but also dramatically affected both of their finances and mine as a caregiver. And I am not currently working either to help be their caregiver through this wonderful, yet financially stressful time. There are a lot of bills, meds, and finances, etc. that we could definitely use help with beyond immediate family. As humble as I usually am.....I am asking for help. I kept saying we’ll cross the bridge when we get there related to bills, meds, copays, etc. but now we ARE there at the bridge. We got this far and I have seen first hand and been reminded that there is still so much good in people and see that people want to help and that’s it’s ok to ask. All is appreciated greatly and even what you think may be a small donation could cover something they may need. Even Miralax is $12 a bottle (lol).
God Bless!
