Help stray dogs by donating to Renee's Rescues
Tax deductible
I am an eighth grader at NCCL School in Newark, DE. Our school is doing a project called The Big Give, where each student is given fifty dollars and asked to make a difference with that money. Our goal is to do more than simply donate the money, but to try to make it grow, use it to purchase needed items, raise awareness, and to get others involved to help us.
About five years ago, my family rescued a dog--her name is Savvy. We don’t know what might have happened to her if we hadn't adopted her: maybe she might have been rescued or maybe she might still be in a shelter five year later. I hate the idea of good dogs put into terrible circumstances such as not having a forever home. So that’s why I’m donating to Renee’s Rescues.
Renee’s Rescues saves stray dogs as well as dogs rescued from puppy mills, and works to give these animals homes. Renee’s Rescues is mainly a Delaware-based organization, but they help dogs from many states around Delaware. They have two different goals in mind: to save dogs and to give them homes and their other goal is to stop puppy mills by supporting local legislation by raising awareness about puppy mills with the goal of enacting stricter laws about puppy mills. Before now, I didn’t know what a puppy mill was, so let me tell you a puppy mill is where dogs are forced to breed and produce puppies for sale.
Renee’s Rescues saves dogs that would otherwise have a big chance of not making it on their own--around 20% of stray dogs die while those from puppy mills suffer 50% fatality. That's why my project is on them.
So the way I’m going to help is that I’m going to raise money for dog vet bills which Renee's Rescues is always struggling with. Any money donated to this GoFundMe will directly go to Renee's Rescues.
The goal of 600 dollars is really important to me as it's enough to cure one dog of heart worms, Savvy had heart worms when she first came to our family and we were able to get her the treatment she needed. With that help, she is living her best life.
