Donna Powers' Funeral Fund
Donation protected
Some good news we want to share is that Donna's funeral went well thanks to all the donations received and the family and friends who were able to attend and help with it. Not to mention the minister who donated his time to say some wonderful words about Donna, share some words from the Lord and lead us in prayer for Donna and her family. If you are seeing this for the first time, please read below why we started this fund raising campaign. It is going well and the family is so appreciative of all help they have received. Because things were so bad for Donna at the last she was unable to have insurance on the house that belonged to her and her two sisters. They are still in need to pay some bills owed and getting the house cleaned up and repaired from the fire, or torn down if it is unrepairable. God Bless everyone for their help, prayers and concern!
On December 15th this year, Donna Powers perished in a fire at her home. She was wheelchair bound and could only take a few steps with a walker. The floor furnace was out and she could not afford to get it fixed. Not wanting to be a burden on her sisters and friends she did not ask for help, so the burners on her stove were all on and a fan was set on the counter blowing the heat out of the kitchen to help heat the house. The fan fell over and caught on fire starting the house to start burning. Donna was trying to get out of her bedroom when she fell and her granddaughter, Genesis, came from her room and tried to get her up with no success. She tried and tried and received some burns. Donna made her go on out of the house, but she ran back to the little house in back where her brother, Jeremy was living and pounded on his door. He ran out, but could not get into the main house because the flames were too high and his hands were burned on the door knob. When the firemen arrived it was too late to get her out. Donna felt that she was on borrowed time because of the two surgeries she had in the last two years. She had to be revived several times during both surgeries and during recovery. But she was strong and made it through because she had faith in the Lord and had her two grandchildren living with her so she needed to get back to help them. Donna was always smiling and very positive. She was so sweet, with a big heart and would do anything she could for anyone. Donna died making sure her granddaughter got out even though she couldn't. Donna died with no money and her surviving family, sisters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews are unable to pay for her funeral at this time. God Bless anyone who can help this family! They are going to have a struggle trying to replace the things that were lost in the fire because Donna didn't have any insurance. Also, whatever it costs to take care of the house that is a total loss. I am a friend of the family and I pray they can get some help. Any amount will be appreciated so much! Thank you so much for your concern and help!
