Support inclusive picture books in Armenia
Donation protected
Dear friends,
Today, March 21st, is World Down Syndrome Day. We want to celebrate this day by highlighting "The Sunny Cook" by Gayane Aghabalyan, a book about a young man who works at Aregak Bakery & Cafe in Gyumri.
Despite facing discrimination and hardship, Hovhannes is working hard to pursue his dream, with the help of friends and family. His incredible journey will help break stereotypes around people with limited abilities and demonstrate the importance of kindness and compassion.
The book is ready to go to print and we need your support to make it happen. 200 copies from the 1000 print run book will be distributed free of charge via the Let’s Read program of ARI Literature Foundation throughout different regions of Armenia. Income from the sales of "The Sunny Cook" will be used to launch a series of books about young people with disabilities.
Any donation, from $5, to $50, to $500, will be sincerely appreciated.
Credit to illustrator Lusine Sahakyan , graphic designer Nina Sedrakian, editor Lusine Hambardzumyan, Aregak Bakery & Cafe in Gyumri, Edge Publishing House and the ARI Literature Foundation.
Thank you for your support,
Ani & Arevik
