Eagle Project Fundraiser for Veteran Cemetery
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
My name is Sidharth Anand, and I am a Life Scout part of Troop 888 in San Ramon, CA. I have been in scouting for most of my life, and I am excited to give back to my community through my Eagle Scout service project. Throughout my years in scouting, I have worked with veteran organizations, such as my Troop’s Chartered Organization American Legion Post 246, and have always wanted to give back to the veteran community for their service. So, I decided to do this project for the Alamo Cemetery in Danville, CA.
The Alamo Cemetery has some of the oldest veterans, pioneer families, and local historical figures buried within its grounds. However, the cemetery has a lot of graves and is very congested, so it is very difficult for the family members of the veterans buried in the cemetery to locate the grave of their deceased relative. Additionally, it is very difficult to identify whether a person buried in the cemetery was a veteran because many of the veteran graves are not marked as such, preventing them from properly receiving the recognition that they deserve.
I developed my project to solve these issues with the cemetery. In the first phase of my project, I built a virtual, interactive map of the Alamo Cemetery with all of the veteran graves marked, as well as a description of each veteran. This will make it easier for visitors to locate veteran graves in the cemetery. The second phase of my project will be to fundraise for and install proper grave markers for each one of the veterans buried in the cemetery. There are over 250 veterans buried in the cemetery, and the vast majority of them don't have any marker signifying that they were a veteran.
The markers that I am fundraising for are high-quality and durable. These markers will indicate to visitors that a grave hosts a veteran, and will truly be able to honor the men and women who have served our country.
I would sincerely appreciate your donation (any amount helps) to properly recognize and honor these veterans.
