ACD Guatemala is a nonprofit and faith-based organization located in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. Its focus is aimed at serving vulnerable children and families in the community who have difficult backgrounds and are at risk of migrating to the United States. The organization supports children and their families with educational and spiritual support to reduce, the trend of irregular migration and involvement in criminal or gang activities. In the larger community, we provide support with a medical clinic, migration education, efficient wood-burning stove installations, and water purification outreaches to hundreds of people. The organization’s commitment is to walk alongside the community to discover a new path of life, to pursue new opportunities, and to empower the community while doing so. Without intervention and support, many children quit school to take jobs as early as 10 years old, get involved in gang/criminal activity, or choose risky irregular migration to Mexico and the United States.
With a gift of $650 you can provide a child and family a year of support that will allow them to stay in school and thrive here in Guatemala. This provides educational support, school supplies, monthly staple foods, family financial assistance, spiritual support and growth, shoes, and mentoring. A gift of $950 provides the opportunity for a teenager or young adult to attend college or a technical training program, school supplies, a paid internship at ACD, and recommendations for employment. Thank you for partnering with young Guatemalans and their families to change the course of their lives, communities, and nation.
While we know the struggles and conditions of the families we serve, we also know they demonstrate great resilience and determination in making a living. Therefore, we always continue creating and implementing new development strategies and outreach for their dignity and growth. If you want to learn more visit: https://acdguatemala.org/
