Effie's Promise

My daughter Effie was born into this world on February 8th 2017. She was born with a condition called HIE which is a loss of oxygen to the brain. We started Effie's promise just a few weeks after she was born. We raised more than we ever thought we would need. Unfortunately we could not have predicted this future.

Effie has about 75% brain damage. She has missed all milestones. She is basically a 1 to 2 month old but working VERY hard to learn. To date we have used roughly half of the money for specialized therapy from around the US. We have used a lot of it for special treatments and travel not covered under insurance. With her lack of progress, we are going to turn to even more experimental therapy such as stem cell and hyperbaric treatments. These will cost into the 10s of thousands of dollars per treatment. We are financially ready to take costs with loans but will continue to raise money.

I need to preface that we are financially doing okay. Not as great as 5 years ago, but fine. We just bought a new car. We don't yet have a loan on our house. You should only donate an amount that would be fiscally fine for you.
