St. Francis Nursing Home, Glasgow
Donation protected
Sadly, our mum lost her battle with Dementia on 9th August 2024 at 9:05am and passed away peacefully with us by her side in St Francis Nursing Home in Govan.
Mum (Betty McGeever) had been a resident for 4 years and it was obvious from the outset, that St Francis was no ordinary care Home. It is a Franciscan charity (SC045943) run by nuns that provide specialist care for the elderly (the majority of which having Alzheimer’s/Dementia, and other complex needs).
The home has an annual running cost of £2M to provide these much needed services and is heavily dependent on donations to keep doing the amazing work they do.
From day one, we have been supported and treated like one large family from the management and carers, to the domestic and catering staff. Every person has been kind, compassionate, caring and supportive over the years. For this we have been truly blessed, thankful and reassured that mum was receiving the best of care and was loved by all.
As such, we would like to help support the charity to continue to do their amazing work, including helping those who have additional support needs such as dementia, or those who no longer have family or friends of their own, needing that extended family to be caring and supportive of them during their final years.
The McGeever family would therefore kindly request that instead of sending cards or flowers, that any donations (no matter how small), are given as a tribute to our St Francis go-fund-me page to help them continue the great work they do.
We intend to fund raise up to a month after the funeral at which time a donation will be made.
