ERWIN DABNEY: A DECEASED FATHER STUCK IN THE PHILIPPINES

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!

With a heavy heart, I come to those who have it in their hearts to help me and my family. My name is Kristin Dabney, the only child of Erwin Dabney. My father was a dreamer and his dream was to visit the beautiful country of the Philippines. His dream came true and I was so happy for him. Unfortunately, the Lord had other plans for my father. He became ill on June 7th with what appeared to be a parasite that caused his legs to swell astronomically. He also had a preexisting heart condition. He realized he needed to return to the United States for proper medical care. He was denied permission to return to the United States because the airline felt as though he was a flight risk. He was now on oxygen, his infection to his legs was worsening and his organs were failing. There began to be blood in his urine so he was rushed to a secondary hospital.

The hospital did not have the means to care for my father to the full extent in which he needed. He became unconscious and entered into a coma. His health continued to deteriorate so he needed to be transferred to the ICU. The ICU has a waiting list. He was number 5 on the list until with the help of the US embassy we were able to get him to number 1 and admit him. A few hours after being in the ICU he went into cardiac arrest and died. Imagine getting a call at 3am of the untimely death of your father and you’re on the other side of the world, powerless.

My family and I have exhausted every organization to receive financial support to have my father’s body shipped back to the United States. We have had no luck. The hospital my father was at did not have a morgue with refrigeration. So he was decomposing in his hospital bed for 36 hours. I was able to pay for him to be transferred to a facility with refrigeration. I ask that if you have it in your heart, please help my family and I bring my father’s remains home.
