Ethan - Team Canada Dance World Championships

I am extremely grateful for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a member of Team Canada Dance. The team will be competing in the official IDO World Ballet & Jazz Championships and IDO World Modern/Contemporary Championships in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, Nov. 28-Dec.4, 2022.

The International Dance Organization (IDO) is a World Dance and Dance-Sport Federation with a membership of over 90 nations, representing more than 250,000 dancers from six continents. The best dancers from around the globe will be competing for the World Championship title. Please see www.ido-dance.com if you would like more information.

In Canada, dance is not recognized as a sporting event; therefore, Team Canada has not been able to obtain any funding from the government. Each dancer is responsible for their own costs. All donations I collect will go directly towards my expenses, including airfare, ground transportation, hotel, meals, entry fees, choreography fees and costumes.

Being a male dancer is very rare, especially in rural Alberta. Constant support runs throughout my home dance studio, and I am forever in debt to everyone who has helped me along the way. I am so thrilled to be representing Canada as well as small-town Alberta on a worldwide stage. I hope to inspire and maybe even pave the way for other young dancers.
