Evan's Breakthrough
Donation protected
On Monday, Evan was experiencing symptoms of a stomach virus; however, on Wednesday things changed drastically which resulted in Evan being admitted to Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Preliminary tests detected lethal amounts of ammonia in Evan's blood stream, which severely affected his nevous system and rendered him unresponsive for a period of time. After extensive testing, Evan has been diagnosed with OTC deficiency. Ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) deficiency is an X-linked genetic disorder of the urea cycle that leads to elevated levels of ammonia in the blood.
As of today, Evan is made tremendous progress! His ammonia levels are down, the pressure caused by swelling of Evan's brain has decreased, and he is more responsive. The past few months have been tumultuous for Evan and his family, as they have suffered several major losses of significant family members. It goes without saying that this crisis will cause a major financial strain on Evan's parents. Therefore, we are asking for donations to help assist with alleviating some of the financial burden. No donation is too big or too small and prayers are always welcome.
