Winfield Little League Field Beautification Fund

With spring right around the corner and the first hints of baseball and softball season in the air, it’s time

we try to help out our local Winfield Little League with a few needed projects. As a parent and coach in

the Winfield Little League, I am asking for your help to start a “Field Beautification Fund.”

Winfield Little League is a community-based organization that offers opportunities for children to learn

our great national pastime and provides enhanced playing opportunities for more advanced players.

While a nominal fee for participation is charged to the families of players to cover expenses such as

uniforms and utilities, the league relies on donations and sponsorships to operate the program and keep

up with facility needs such as field maintenance.

Currently over 120 children ages 9-12 are using the little league field. Torrential rains during the fall and

winter have caused drainage issues at this field. This field could currently use an upgrade to the existing

backstop area and baselines. This upgrade would include laying sod and raising playing levels to

alleviate drainage concerns. The outfield fence has also fallen in disrepair in a few areas and could

benefit from some upgrades.

The softball field is serving over 75 girls this season. They are facing similar issues with drainage and

overall usability. This field is also in need of additional upgrades to the scoreboard system, backstop,

and press box.

Winfield Little League also houses three additional fields for t-ball, coach pitch, and senior league. All

three of these have multiple projects that are needed, as well. Once the drainage issues on the other

two fields are corrected I would like to be able to contribute some funds to improve the playing

conditions for those areas with anything that we have leftover.

I’m asking all parents and coaches to chip in and make a donation to our Field Beautification Fund. Any

donation, large or small, would help us achieve the goal of raising $5,000. Additionally, your donation

would be considered tax deductible as the League operates under a 501(c)3. I thank you in advance for
