Final Expenses for the Family of Barbie Coomer

Barbie Hale Coomer of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away due to kidney failure on June 20, 2024. She had been under Hospice care for about a month.

Due to multiple health issues throughout her adult life, affordable insurance was not obtainable, therefore her husband, Allan, is facing paying for Barbie’s final expenses on his own.

Donations for funeral expenses are also being collected at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, however this GoFundMe was created as an additional option for those who want to make a donation online.

In all, the family will need over $10,000 to pay for funeral and burial expenses, eventually a headstone, and any other expenses which might arise in the coming days and months. (The date of Barbie’s funeral service is listed here, but all funds are not needed by that date.)

Allan did not ask me to do this, and told me he is terrible at asking for help. He and Barbie were a remarkable couple and have always been so kind to me, so it’s my honor to head up this fundraiser. Today he told me that “if friends were money, Barbie and I would be the richest couple in Somerset.”

Now is the time for those friends to pitch in a little and help him out.
