Type 1 Diabetes Treatment

Slavik and Jacob Khashchuk's Life Changing Diabetes Treatment !   First of all, thank you for taking the time to read our story. We are a loving family of six, made up of two blessed parents and four amazing children (three boys and one girl). I’m married to my rock, my best friend, the love of my life and through this love we have been able to bring these children into the world and do our best to take care of them. Unfortunately, no parent can protect their children from the uncontrollable and five years ago our beautiful second born son Slavik was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. There is no cure for type 1 diabetes, only treatments, which are not pleasant and affect quality of life. For the first year we gave him shots to help control his blood sugar levels and had to wake him up multiple times a night to keep him stable. This left us extremely anxious and fearing that he might not wake up one morning. Finally, we were able to get a blood sugar monitor and insulin pump, which has helped but the pump constantly gets kinks and is not ideal. Now he is 9 and just as we think we are more able to manage his disease; our youngest son Jacob of five years has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as well. A little bit about our sons! Slavik is obsessed with animals and bugs! He wants to be a scientist so he can learn more about them or maybe be a veterinarian so he can help them.  Jacob loves swimming and he absolutely loves going to school to learn new things and see  his classmates! As parents we want to improve their quality of life to the best of our ability, but we are by no means financially well off, and the medical bills seem to pile up with no reprieve. I’m sure our fellow parents understand the tragedy and every day struggle it is to watch our babies suffer and would try anything to improve their lives. So here it is: We have been researching for years about a stem cell treatment for type 1 diabetes and have found some promising evidence that this treatment could be life changing for our boys. There is no guarantee, but we are willing to do absolutely everything we can to try this treatment! We have tried many options and spent a lot of money and many hours visiting doctors. We have been saving and raising as much money as possible ourselves, but we are still quite short. We can get them this treatment, then even if it doesn’t work for us, we will be able to tell our precious boys that we did literally everything possible! This treatment is very expensive and that is why we are asking people to open their hearts and help us as parents to not let our boys down.
