Water Filters for Puerto Rico
Donation protected
We are buying water filters that are capable of taking contaminated water and cleaning into water that can be used for drinking and cooking purposes. 50% of the water supply systems in Puerto Rico are either not functioning at all or are working but are contaminated. This fund was created to help buy the water filters. We have already committed to buying 200 filters at cost ($13-14$) from a supplier. We will buy more if the funding makes that an option. The filters are used with a 5 gallon bucket which is already available to most people in Puerto Rico. The first shipment will be the Ivonne's hometown of Guayanilla, a "small" town of 20,000 in the southwestern part of the Island. Currently, all water must be boiled but with no electricity, and limited gas resources, this becomes an almost impossible task. It is expected that it will be many months until this area has electricity or a viable water source again.
Thank you helping in any way you can. It is appreciated.
