Fuel David's Mission to Empower Africa

Funema CEO takes on Stanford. This is the story of a man named David Ogundeko, founder and CEO of Funema. He was selected to an exclusive group of CEOs. He was invited to Stanford to finely hone his fundraising skills to empower him to invest in hundreds of African startups. This fundraiser is set to pay for airfare and program fees to attend the training. Help support him on his quest to equip African entrepreneurs for business success.

David Ogundeko is more than just the CEO of Funema. He is also a man of faith, a poet, finding inspiration in the world around him and sharing his work through his "Bottles of Borrowed Happiness" publication on Medium. An entrepreneur at heart, David is a Venture Steward, constantly seeking ways to empower others.

Funema, the company David leads, is an Impact Venture building company. Here, David leverages his expertise by investing cash-in-kind venture building services into early-stage companies. These companies are all focused on B2B vertical market software, with a mission to digitally transform small businesses into successful tech-enabled enterprises.

David's life design is a beautiful tapestry woven from his christian faith, his love for poetry, and his passion for entrepreneurship. He actively shares the lessons he learns from his walk with the Holy Spirit, while also remastering old poems and crafting new ones. A lifelong learner, David enjoys expanding his knowledge through audio courses on MessengerX and documentaries on mathematics and quantum mechanics on Curiosity Stream.

Why David's participation in this program matters:

David's acceptance into the prestigious VC Unlocked program by 500 Global and Standford University is a testament to his dedication and potential. However, the cost of the program presents a significant hurdle. This GoFundMe campaign aims to bridge that gap, allowing David to fully immerse himself in this transformative learning experience.

About Funema: Building the Foundations for Lasting Change

Funema isn’t your typical venture capital firm. We recognise that real progress in developing economies takes time. That’s why we focus on long-term investments that build the essential infrastructure for sustainable businesses.
Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Steady Development: We understand that the challenges faced by frontier markets require a measured approach, unlike the fast-paced, short-term focus of traditional VC models.
  • Sustainable Entrepreneurship: We’re not just about funding ventures; we’re about building the capacity for visionary entrepreneurs to create businesses that generate wealth for underserved communities for generations to come.
  • Last-Mile Solutions: We partner with passionate entrepreneurs tackling critical issues in remote and underserved areas.

Funema’s Impact:
Our work goes beyond individual companies. We empower leaders who create a ripple effect of positive change, building a future where:

  • Innovation Thrives: We help develop cutting-edge solutions tailored to the unique challenges of emerging and frontier markets.
  • Businesses Endure: We equip entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge they need to build long-term success.
  • Communities Prosper: We empower visionary leaders who are driving positive change in their communities.

Investing in the Future:
David’s acceptance into the program is an opportunity to amplify Funema’s impact as David prepares to raise their first venture fund as an emerging manager to invest in 100 companies across Africa. By supporting him, you’re investing in:

  • The Next Generation of 100 Entrepreneurs: Help build the businesses of tomorrow that tackle critical issues in emerging markets.
  • Long-lasting Solutions: Support the development of sustainable solutions that empower communities across Africa and Asia.
  • Generational Wealth Creation: Empower entrepreneurs to build businesses that create wealth and opportunity for generations to come.
