Help Fund Mother Mack's Accessible Home

My grandmother Junell Mack, otherwise known to many as Mother Mack, suffered a stroke on May 20, 2024. Before then, at 89 years old, she was able to do everything on her own. She was even able to drive herself to her doctor visits. It was while heading to the store when she suffered the stroke. The stroke was concentrated on the right side of the brain and she has had to relearn how to do basic motor skills on her left side – lifting her left arm and left leg, standing up on her own, and turning her head to the left. While her prognosis is good, her life has been forever changed.

As a result, her home had to become more accessible for survivors of a stroke. This home, which was built in 1938 and she shared with her husband of 64 years before he passed away in 2013, had to get the following accommodated so that she can live comfortably within it:

• Ramp installed

• Bathroom remodeled for accessibility including a walk-in shower, new sink, and new toilet

• Installed new floor in bathroom

• Laundry area remodeled for accessibility

Blessedly, we had two great shows of kindness since May 20 – Summerville Baptist Church in Summerville, SC built a new ramp to help mobility inside the home for my grandmother; Morgan Construction of Orlando, Florida installed the new flooring and remodeled the bathroom and laundry area. They volunteered their labor in the construction of the home.

$10,000 is to cover the costs of materials to remodel Mother Mack’s home.
