Funding Toya's Journey Home: A Final Tribute

On May 30th, 2024, we tragically lost our beloved Qeetoya Lay to DVT (deep vein thromboembolism). Known affectionately as Toya, she had a heart full of love for children. Despite not having children of her own, Toya pursued becoming a foster care mom with the goal of adopting an older child in need. She was determined to make a difference in the lives of those often overlooked in the adoption process.

After successfully becoming a licensed foster care mom, Toya welcomed a 13-year-old foster child into her home on May 3rd, 2024. Tragically, Toya passed away on May 30th as she was found unresponsive in the bathroom. This was just weeks into her new role as a foster care mom. Her sudden loss has left her family and friends devastated.

As Toya's family prepares to bring her back home to Flint, MI from Los Angeles, CA, we are faced with significant expenses. My son and I flew to California praying there we would find information that would lead us toward covering her expenses, but we found nothing. The cost of transporting her body from California , cemetery arrangements, and funeral services total $11,900 (taxes not included). We are reaching out for donations to help fund Toya's final expenses and give her the farewell she deserves.
