Gabbi's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hi everyone - I wanted to take a moment to provide an update since it has been over a year from my first Go Fund Me. There have been a lot of ups and downs, as life tends to offer. I was lucky enough to enjoy the first half of this year with cancer free scans. During this time Ryan and I got engaged, spent a month with his family in Florida during some wonderful and also difficult times, attended a few of our closest friends' weddings, and I even snuck in a trip to Colombia with my best friend.

Unfortunately, in July we found a recurrence of cancer (Ewings Sarcoma) in my chest cavity. In less than a week I had a new port and began a new chemotherapy treatment. I am going into my eighth round of this treatment, and my 28th ever round of chemo, with no definite end date. On the bright side I have had three rounds of scans that show the tumor shrinking, and I have been feeling well overall. I am still able to enjoy some things I love such as walks with Dani, having friends over for movie nights or baking, or mini adventures with Ryan.

Since April I have also decided not to return to MGH IHP for my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I felt that this would be too emotionally and physically demanding at a time when I need to prioritize other things in life. This was an incredibly difficult decision to make after spending three years working tirelessly towards this goal. Even though I did not get to see this one all the way through, I am beyond proud of my growth and dedication. Instead I have been seeking employment with my business and technology background. This has been a challenging endeavor with the gap in my work experience/change in career.

I know that I had hoped to donate any excess money raised last year back to MGH. However, I am grateful that the last round of fundraising allowed me to cover basic necessities such as rent, groceries, car bills, as well as enjoy life experiences with friends and loved ones.

At this time I am seeking a bit more help from this community that has gotten me through an incredible amount of adversity in life, and I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who has sent me encouraging words, donated already, or spread word and prayers. I am once again leaning on the power of community to ask that if you are able to donate or share my GoFundMe, have information or advice on returning to the workforce after a medical leave, or are able to keep me in your thoughts and prayers, that you please do so. I truly could not be more grateful to have you all in my life.

All my love,
Gabbi
