Laurie and Richie's love story is nothing short of a modern-day fairy tale. Meeting later in life, they found in each other the missing piece they had been searching for. Their journey together has been filled with adventures across the globe, the purchase of their dream home, Egger Farm, and the joyful addition of Kharma, a new furry family member to join Leo. They have seamlessly blended their families and have so many dreams for their future together.

Laurie's warmth and positivity are contagious to anyone who crosses her path. She radiates kindness and lives every moment to its fullest. So when Laurie called me in tears two weeks ago, I knew something was really wrong. Richie, her rock and beloved husband, had been enduring unbearable abdominal pain, leading to a heart-wrenching diagnosis: treatable stage 4 cancer.

For over 25 days now, Richie has been hospitalized, with Laurie unwaveringly by his side. The emotional toll has been immense as they navigate this unforeseen challenge, from grappling with the diagnosis to sharing the news with their families. Despite the daily uncertainty, Laurie's unwavering optimism remains a guiding light for the two lovebirds. She has transformed Richie's hospital room into a sanctuary of hope, adorned with string lights, uplifting quotes, and messages of resilience.

Richie and Laurie are ready to fight, with boxing gloves laced up for their long journey, together with their incredible family, support network and medical care team. Laurie and Richie are the epitome of kindness and selflessness, always putting others before themselves. Now it's our turn to rally around them in their time of need.
