Grandma Lucy's Final Wish

Hi, my name is Beth and this is for my Grandma Lucy. When I came to live with my grandparents, I knew how it would end, just not when. Taking care of anyone is hard and then add in the Dementia and its a rollercoaster ride of dips and twirls. Grandma enjoyed her quiet time in the garden, snoozing on a bench with the sun hitting her face with the many rose bushes sending their scents her way. I always imagined her back in Puerto Rico taking in the salty sea air and soaking up the sun while drinking a margarita. I watched her for 5 years sit outside during scorching temperature's with a sweater and jeans soaking up the sun, I watched her cook, what would have been the last time she cooked, papas and huevos, and she hated my eggs, still not sure why. Grandma may have been quiet around everyone, but with family she was laughing and smiling or possibly giving you the side eye. She was married to Grandpa Roy for 46 years. Life wasn't always easy but they enjoyed it together by traveling, always having family gatherings, and eating some good food along the way. I really could go on and on about her because she led an eventful life and I got to help her in the end.

Grandma Lucy passed on Monday, May 27, 2024 in the wee hours of the morning with me holding her hand. She didn't want a fuss, no funeral, no service, just a cremation. Lo and behold the cost of cremation is more than both their paychecks put together. We do have life insurance but the cost eats it up fairly quick. So we need help. Even if we don't get all the way to the goal, that's ok, a little is helpful over nothing. So I thank you now for helping, if you can and do. Forever grateful.
