Hi, my name is Alex J Schultz. I am the granddaughter of Joseph A Baccari, known by many as Grandpa Joe or General Joey. My grandpa acquired congestive heart failure approx. 1.5 years after my grandmas passing in 2017, his wife of 60+ years. After a life of perfect health, he fell ill with broken heart syndrome, ultimately causing his heart to fail. My grandpa was a US Army Veteran who was honorably discharged 1 day before deployment for the Vietnam War, drove tractor trailers for UPS for 30 years after and a school bus driver for 20+ years after that and even when his pacemaker was placed he still worked on the bus as a Drivers Assistant. My grandpa absolutely loved to work and found a special honor in caring for his family. Unfortunately, my grandpa never listened to me and made a will because he put too much faith in his offspring. Soon after his passing, I found out I was no longer receiving the inheritance left to me and his daughter, my mother, was not going to be giving any funeral services. I was heartbroken and distraught. My grandpa was known and loved by so many people and to not give him a memorial would be a pure injustice and disrespect to his honor. As a 22 year old self supporting Licensed Practical Nurse, I was doing okay before my grandpa fell ill. However, in the last 2 weeks of his life after discovering his improper placement into a healthcare facility against his will, I became his home hospice primary caregiver for his last days. I have not worked since May 28th and am waiting on processing with no guarantee of pay because of no cooperation from the health care proxy. I have received my own portion of my grandpas remains and I have secured a hall to hold a party for him July 6th from 1pm-5pm at Knights of Columbus in Massapequa Park with a deadline of payment of June 26th. I am asking so kindly that anyone who has a couple dollars to spare to contribute so I can make this celebration of my grandpas life exactly what he deserves. All proceeds are going directly to the expenses of the party and I am so grateful for everyone taking the time
To read. It has been less than 2 weeks since my best friend has passed and I am still so lost and have no choice but to go back to work tomorrow. I sustained my own health issues during this time, now having a stress Induced heart issue requiring a cardiologist all while not having health insurance. With all of that being said, I’m blessed for whatever help I can receive. Thank you .
7/1/2024 UPDATE : I have unfortunately not been able to collect the finances in time to hold his memorial on July 6 however it is going to be rescheduled to a day in late August . Please keep supporting !
