Loving Isaac, helping heal early childhood trauma
Donation protected
The trauma of a baby’s suffering doesn’t disappear. Steve and I come to you on behalf of our beloved, adopted nephew, Isaac. His story began 15 years ago in Guatemala, where he was born and raised in an orphanage for the first 4 years of his life. The journey has been beautiful and heart-breaking. We would not be asking for help if there were options in place to help children and families care for trauma healing without impossible expense. Giving up is not an option! We passionately ask for your help with this rescue mission. And maybe in so doing, awareness will spread of the great need to support adoptive parents who have given everything to save a life. No one should have to run out of options after 15 years. We love Isaac and the whole Robinson family dearly. Let me introduce them.
My sister and her husband, Anne and Todd Robinson, adopted Isaac from Guatemala in 2008 at the age of 4. At the end of a 2-year process and as the adoption borders were closing down in Guatemala, Anne and Todd spent 6 weeks in Guatemala rescuing Isaac. They have 3 older kids, Hannah (married to Joseph), Adie, and Micah. Anne and Todd are missionaries with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Garden Valley, Texas.
Arriving in Lexington from Guatemala in 2008
Isaac at age 5
Early on, Isaac showed signs of trauma from his 1st 4 pre-adoptive years. He is now 15 years old. It is critical that he receive further education and life coaching in a setting that is trained to work with children dealing with the complexities of pre-adoptive developmental disorders. Anne and Todd have done everything possible to help him thrive and have a bright future. The rescuing continues with great love and faith.
Isaac loves God and his family and at the same time is conflicted with trauma that needs special care. At this point it is clear that he needs a “live-in” program with a minimum stay of one year. Isaac has been accepted into a Christian home for boys that provides therapy and education for troubled boys. At $2600 tuition/month for 15 months plus living expenses the total comes to $44,000. (includes everything: tuition, curriculum, school supplies, living expenses)
Will you support us in this rescue?
The BIG PUSH is for $10,050 by JULY 6TH! If everyone shares this post, and our goal could be met! Many hands help spread the load!
Steve and I are asking you to join us in raising this seemingly impossible goal. Jeremiah 32:17 says, “Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”
Thank you.
Love, Steve and Julie Asmus #healingforisaac
