help a queer nurse securely survive recovery
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Lore! I'm a queer, trans, and disabled nurse.
I have been on medical leave since 2023.
I need your help to cover expenses for myself and my cats, until January/February which is when I will be able to reapply for this benefit.
They allot 5 months per calendar year, which I have now exceeded. This would be my 2nd round of "gap time" and these payments are my only source of income. My disability has worsened instead of improved due to worrying about finances, having a full schedule of doctor's appointments, and watching my condition worsen and turn into separate and new coexisting conditions.
I have a disability parking placard. I am medically disqualified from jury duty. In public, I use a rollator (walker on wheels with a chair-basket on it!) or my cane, depending on how much I plan to be moving where I am heading.
I currently am working with lawyers for social security disability (SSDI) - my initial application was denied and we just sent our appeal/reconsideration.
This can still take months or a year to continue the process. I submitted my original application in October 2023 and was denied in May 2024, if that gives you an idea of how backlogged they are.
I am also working with trying to acquire long-term disability from my work's insurance, and also have a lawyer available once or if I am denied.
I am lucky and blessed to have a gracious benefactor help with my rent and utilities. What I am raising money for is for "enrichment" and personal finances - such as gas, cat food/supplies, general self-care, ability to order food or an Uber if needed, and whatever else comes up.
I will also have other ways to help out if this isn't your preference- an Amazon wish-list with what I need specifically for my cats, Kofi, Venmo/Cashapp, PayPal. I am also offering remote nursing & spiritual services as well.
If you would like to look up my diagnoses for your own education, I have provided some links for further information. Thank you again in advance for donating or just boosting! It is much appreciated and is life-saving.
