Help a trans man stay in school!

Hi, my name's Claire and this is my partner Max.

He's a trans guy who's very passionate about plants, his cats, and community care. Max has been studying for the past year to become a psychotherapist and now that he's been accepted into a masters, he's gonna need some help to be able to afford his school fees, as his income is quite precarious.

The reason he's becoming a therapist is because as a trans man, he knows that there aren't enough trans therapists out there. Trans people are disproportionately affected by trauma, abuse, and mental illness and therefore need therapeutic support from someone who understands their lived experience. Trans people are also at higher risk of precarity and homelessness which makes access to therapy even more difficult.

Max's goal is to qualify as a therapist to be able to offer accessible and affordable support for other trans people. At the moment he is volunteering with Mindline TransPlus which is a crisis helpline for trans people. He is also working to try and create scholarships for trans students, so that education as well might be more accessible in the future.

Max is also involved in advocacy work supporting Sex Worker Rights and Decriminalization. The lived experience of transness and sex work are often intersecting, and Max believes in creating therapeutic communities that understand and support Sex Workers.

The 10k would cover his school fees plus the supervision that he needs to pay for to be able to start practicing. Any amount donated is greatly appreciated xx
