Help an Asylee in Hospice Reunite with Her Kids

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Savannah and I am a law student at Georgetown Law. I work for Georgetown Law’s Asylum Clinic and have had the honor of serving clients who have fled persecution in their home country in search of safety and refuge in the United States. My client, Leady, survived eight years of domestic violence in her home country of Guatemala, and was granted asylum last year. After enduring a great deal of trauma, Leady is now desperate to reunite with her 4 young children who remain in Guatemala. Sadly, Leady’s situation has become increasingly urgent: She has been battling cervical cancer for 5 years and is currently in hospice care. Leady’s dying wish is to spend what little time she has left with her children, whom she has not seen since she fled for her life in 2018. She has a very small window of time left to be with her children.

We have been helping Leady’s children complete the necessary immigration process for them to travel to the U.S. and see their mother before her health worsens. We are doing everything we can to expedite this process, but financial need has been a large barrier for this family. Leady’s children have been on their own for 5 years and do not have money or other resources at their disposal, which means that completing each part of the process will be challenging and time consuming for them. We would like to alleviate some of the family’s financial burden in order to avoid any further delay in their ability to be reunited. Any money donated to this fund will be used to cover the cost of the children’s travel to the U.S. and medical expenses, all of which they must pay for out of pocket. All contributions are greatly appreciated and will go a long way to ensure that Leady and her children are reunited with their only parent before she passes away.

Please consider donating to help reunite a family that has been separated for 5 years.
