Help Brian Get Power Wheelchair & Disability Items

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and anyone who doesn't know me:

My name is Brian and I've started this fundraiser for my disability needs, starting with a power wheelchair, ramps, power adjusting bed, a table/desk that goes over my bed so I can eat/sit up, etc. Medical bills have piled up into the tens of thousands and while being current as of right now, money is so incredibly tight there is just no extra money for me to get the equipment that I need. My parents have been taking care of me and still do, and with my dad's uncertain employment finances have become very, very tight even while he's still working.

WHAT HAPPENED: On June 6th, 2020, at approximately 10:40am I was on my way into work as usual when someone pulled out right in front of me trying to cross 5 lanes of traffic and I nailed him on him at 45 mph. Both cars were totaled as a result. I broke my right thumb as a result of the accident. Far more importantly, I suffered a massive concussion resulting in neurological complications as well.

THE AFTERMATH: The symptoms from my concussion set in after 3 days. Less than 2 weeks later I needed a walker to get around and the next week I was in a wheelchair, where I have been since. I've had neurological issues as a direct result of the concussion I sustained from the accident. I'm constantly dizzy, disoriented, frequent short term memory loss, difficulty going to sleep, pain in my hamstrings causing my knees to buckle, my head, neck, loss of feeling in some areas of the body, and more. I've already been to the emergency room twice in the weeks after the accident. No doctor has been able to figure out what's wrong with me 7+ months after the accident. I've been sent to physical therapy twice since the accident and I've been sent home both times as rehab has not helped, in fact making things worse than they were before. The doctors have ordered bedrest for me since my symptoms set in. I have not worked since and won't be able to work for awhile.

CURRENT SITUATION: While my parents continue to work outside the home during the day, it leaves me on my own to take care of myself, which has become increasingly more difficult by the week. The current wheelchair I have that I'm pictured with is for the outdoors and getting into doctor's offices. The wheelchair is very bulky and too wide to fit through doors and the hallways. Sometimes with the steps I take I fall to the ground and have to use my arms to get me around and back on my feet again. Every step I do take I have to lean up against the walls, bookcases, or anything I can hold on to/grab. Despite having a temporary handicap placard, my medical insurance company will not cover my wheelchair, ramps, etc. because I'm not permanently disabled (at least yet - hopefully not forever!!) I am constantly in pain - laying down for long periods of time is the only relief I get, and it's some at best, sometimes not at all. I very much long for the day I will no longer feel this way!

ITEMS NEEDED:

1) Power Wheelchair - This is my top priority to get. This would allow me to get through all the doors and hallway in the house without having to get up. Having this would eliminate most of the steps I have to take, which are so incredibly painful to do right now.

2) Wheelchair Ramps - We do not currently have any ramps for me to help me get out of the house and into the car. Getting these remains priority #2. I currently have to wobble and hobble to the car as my wheelchair will not fit through the door. Getting these would allow me to get myself out of the house and into the car with the power wheelchair.

3) Power Adjusting Bed - This would make my transition from my bed to my power wheelchair very easy without much effort. I am also in need of being able to sit up in bed in an effort to try and help myself recover more. Which then transitions into my next need:

4) Table/Desk Over Bed - This would allow me to eat at my bed as well as use it as a desk so I can sit my laptop down w/monitor on it. This would have to be custom built by a handyman but entirely doable.

5) Other misc. items - There are other more smaller items I could use and also items I may need in the future. Any extra money raised from this will go towards these expenses.

If you find it in your heart to give, I would be the most appreciative. It's been a very long journey so far with absolutely no end in sight. Continued prayers for me for healing and for my doctors to figure out what exactly is wrong with me would be the most appreciative. Thank you and God bless you!
