Help Bring Karen Home with Love and Respect

Karen Robison

A natural entrepreneur, after furthering her education in business, Karen started or was part of a few of her own businesses and worked in management roles for various companies through the years, including website design. She was an avid traveler who cherished trying new things and spending time in nature. Karen truly was full of adventure and had a deep love for exploration, which led her to get involved in search and rescue operations in Colorado Springs.

On a fun note, she appeared as an extra in two films, including The Postman with Kevin Costner. In one memorable moment, as Kevin Costner was coming down a hill, the Velcro on his sleeve got stuck in her hair. The second was Perry Mason.
Wherever Karen has lived through the years, she was an asset to her community. In her early years she helped establish one of the largest Catholic singles groups in Tucson and generously contributed her skills to numerous charitable events. After an accident in 2009 left her a paraplegic, Karen became an advocate for better accessibility and transportation options for the handicapped in Tucson. She regularly attended town hall meetings and worked with city planning officials to push for improvements. Karen played a vital role in helping plan and secure sidewalks that were wheelchair accessible, ensuring greater mobility for those with disabilities. Karen was also well known in urban Tucson for volunteering annually in full festive costume as Mrs. Santa Clause in Tucson’s Downtown Parade of Lights and as a skeleton in their Dia de Los Muertos Parades.
It was hard for such an academically accomplished, active, and talented woman to no longer be able to work. Due to her condition and continued medical bills Karen was on disability for the last 15 years of her life without even the means to have life insurance or provide for her final arrangements
We hope to have Karen cremated and to bring her remains back to Indianapolis, where there will be a celebration of Life (TBD) and she will be laid to rest alongside her father and grandparents. As no immediate family remains in Tucson any longer, we are faced with traveling there to go closeup her apartment and bring her home.
We would be very appreciative for any small donations to help offset her final expenses
Our love blessings to you all.
