Help Bring Our Loved Monique Mukazi Home for Rest

Our beloved Monique Mukazi, Maman Madudu, who meant the world to us, has passed away unexpectedly while in Canada. She had been in Canada visiting family. Together we shared wonderful times. This was one of her regular yearly visits. I was very happy to hear that she was visiting because I thoroughly enjoy spending time with her. We had a wonderful time this summer. I personally enjoyed doing sports with her, discussing and telling her stories. This time things turned around for the worse and she got unexpectedly sick and left us with a big hole in our hearts. She was a cherished woman in our lives, and we are now faced with the challenge of continuing life without her.

As Tante Monique passed away far from home, we are also facing significant costs to transport their body back to Rwanda, along with the medical bills from her time in the hospital. It is important to get her home safely with all the respect that she deserves so that she can finally be laid to rest and to allow her children, grandchildren, sisters, the larger family and friends to see her and for a proper farewell. Unfortunately, these costs are more than our family can manage alone.

For everyone who has gotten the blessing of knowing Tante Monique knows her as a calm, very attentive, caring, loving mother figure. I got the blessing to spend all her last days with her, and I can only thank God for allowing her to be a part of my life. I will forever remember her voice, her encouraging me to tell everything to God, she used to tell me: “Ubibwire Yezu, aragufasha”. She was a woman of great faith, I hope to emulate these traits in my life.

I am so sorry for everyone who loved Tante Monique strongly, I am very sorry for your loss, words aren’t enough but I pray that God will overflow you with that peace that surpasses our understanding, the peace that he has promised us. Please love each other with all that you have, this is our task on earth. Until we see her again.
